Camp Cartwheel Held by Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation
August 2, 2004 -- Some very special youngsters are wrapping up five fun-filled days of swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, horseback riding, outdoor games, nature study and so much more! This year, Camp Cartwheel was held from July 26th to July 31st at the Boy Scout Camp at Mount Potosi. For five days, some critically ill children got to forget about hospitals, clinics and diseases. They brought along their brothers and sisters and concentrated on having fun.
Children with illness such as cancer, AIDS, hemophilia, sickle cell disease and other immunological and renal disorders draw on their summer camp experiences for strength throughout the year. Camp Cartwheel is a medically supervised and cost-free day camp designed to help children overcome the physical, mental and emotional obstacles posed by childhood disease.
The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation would like to thank the businesses and community leaders and the tireless volunteers that make Camp Cartwheel a reality every year. Their generosity brings much needed smiles and laughter to these wonderful children.
The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides psychological, emotional, and social support to families with critically ill children throughout the year. Upcoming events sponsored by the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation include the Champions Run For Life to be held on September 11, 2004 and the Profiles of Courage Dinner Gala to be held on October 23, 2004.
